Services Offered
Social Anxiety Group Treatment
These groups of 6-8 are for people dealing with anxiety in social and public speaking settings. The treatment consists of 14 weekly evening sessions.
Although there are opportunities to share experiences with and get support from other group members who have been dealing with social anxiety, the focus of the meetings is on learning skills to help with this problem. The sessions will include psycho-education, relaxation techniques, cognitive restructuring (learning to identify and challenge the thoughts that are "getting you in trouble"), assertiveness training, goal setting, and exposure/practice.
As difficult (or terrifying!) as it might sound to talk about social anxiety in a group setting, I have found this to be the best environment in which to face your fears and make dramatic changes in your life.
Individual Therapy
Individually, I work with people with a variety of problems. I primarily employ a cognitive-behavioral treatment approach, helping clients to identify and challenge those distortions in their thinking that are interfering with achieving a sense of well-being in their lives.
